- Self-Help Groups (SHGs):
Matrubhumi Sewa Sankalp Foundation actively mobilized rural and tribal women from marginalized communities to form Self-Help Groups (SHGs), each consisting of 10 to 20 women from similar socio-economic backgrounds. These groups were guided through essential steps such as registration, opening bank accounts, and maintaining documentation. The foundation provided comprehensive training in SHG management, covering bookkeeping, savings and lending mechanisms, internal financial systems, and democratic group functioning, including conflict resolution. Women were linked with banks and government schemes, enabling them to access micro-credit, subsidies, and financial inclusion initiatives like NRLM. SHGs also engaged in market-oriented production activities such as food processing and garment making, supported by exposure visits and participation in local exhibitions and fairs. These initiatives led to increased confidence, access to credit, and stronger collective bargaining power among women. The SHGs not only improved household income and financial decision-making but also enhanced women's visibility in local governance and development platforms.
- Skill Training for Women:
To foster economic independence, Matrubhumi delivered skill training in diverse areas including tailoring, fashion design, food processing (like making juice, pickles, and sauces), digital literacy, solar panel installation, and traditional crafts. The training sessions were hands-on, conducted by expert trainers, and designed with a practical approach. Participants received certifications and essential tool kits upon completion, along with post-training support to establish micro-enterprises or home-based units. Well-equipped training centers provided the necessary resources such as sewing machines, computers, and culinary tools. Sessions also included modules on business planning, pricing strategies, and customer engagement. Special efforts were made to include tribal women and those with limited literacy, and all courses were aligned with local market needs. As a result, hundreds of women acquired productive livelihood skills, many of whom started earning independently through small businesses or home-based work. The program significantly boosted women’s self-confidence, social respect, and reduced their economic dependence on male family members.
- Health & Nutrition Support for Women:
In collaboration with partners like ISOIF and RWF, Matrubhumi implemented a women-focused health and nutrition support initiative. The program targeted key issues such as anaemia, malnutrition, reproductive health, and hygiene. Health camps were organized for haemoglobin screening, and diagnosed women received iron and multivitamin supplements. Nutrition awareness workshops emphasized balanced diets using locally available foods, maternal nutrition, and breastfeeding practices, delivered in local dialects through visual aids. In addition, menstrual health management was addressed by distributing sanitary pads and hygiene kits, coupled with awareness sessions to dispel myths and promote reproductive self-care. Mental and physical well-being was promoted through yoga, meditation, and counseling sessions, along with encouragement for regular checkups and peer support networks. The program led to visible improvements in women's energy levels, productivity, and participation in other initiatives like skill training. It also cultivated better health practices and peer group formation for sustained health education.
