Skill Development

Skill Development Initiatives by ISOIF and ICSF

The skill development programs by ISOIF (Indian Social Organisation for Integrated Futures) and ICSF (Indian Community Support Foundation) take a holistic 360° approach to building human capacity in rural and tribal areas. These programs integrate technical training, soft skills, and entrepreneurship development to bridge employment gaps, foster livelihood generation, and promote self-reliance. The focus is on empowering youth, women, and underserved communities with practical, industry-relevant skills.

Vocational Training Courses

a. Tailoring and Fashion Design (ISOIF)

This program is tailored to empower women and adolescent girls with income-generating skills in garment making. Participants learn basic stitching, cutting, and pattern-making along with foundational fashion design concepts. The training includes hands-on practice with sewing machines and fabric care. Upon completion, women receive starter kits and certification, and are guided in setting up home-based tailoring units. This helps them begin small-scale businesses from their homes and support their families financially.

b. Welding Training (ISOIF)

Aimed primarily at rural youth, the welding course equips participants with critical skills for the construction and manufacturing industries. Training covers safety protocols, use of protective gear, and types of welding including arc, gas, and basic MIG/TIG. Through hands-on sessions, participants gain experience in metal joining and tool maintenance, preparing them for immediate industrial employment or freelance opportunities.

c. Solar Panel Installation and Maintenance (ISOIF)

With a growing demand for green energy, ISOIF offers practical training in solar energy systems. The course covers solar panel and inverter installation, electrical safety, and routine maintenance. Rooftop practice sessions provide field-level exposure. This program enables participants to enter the renewable energy sector, which holds strong future potential in both urban and rural markets.

d. 2-Wheeler Automobile Repair (ICSF)

Conducted at Resham Bagh, Nagpur under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Skill Kaushal Yojana (DDUSKY) in partnership with MCED, this 45-day training focuses on motorbike and moped repair. Modules include automotive safety, first aid, dismantling and reassembling components, electrical diagnostics, and carburetor tuning. Industrial visits further enhance practical knowledge. Graduates are job-ready for employment in garages or can open their own service units.

e. Multidisciplinary Training (ISOIF)

This cluster of short-term courses includes car repair basics, hygienic juice and sauce making, and computer literacy. Culinary training emphasizes home-based micro-entrepreneurship, while computer skills include MS Office, internet usage, and online banking. The courses cater to school dropouts, homemakers, and aspiring entrepreneurs, helping them diversify their income sources.

2. Soft Skills and Mind Development Programs (ISOIF)

Recognizing the importance of behavioral and emotional skills, ISOIF conducts soft skills training to complement technical expertise. Participants engage in communication training, public speaking, and group discussion practice. Personality development sessions promote confidence, grooming, and self-awareness. Stress management and mindfulness are addressed through yoga, meditation, and positive thinking workshops. Additionally, goal-setting exercises help participants plan personal and career growth. These modules lead to improved self-esteem, teamwork, and emotional well-being—traits that enhance employability and leadership capacity.

3. Entrepreneurship Training (ICSF)

To support self-employment and promote rural entrepreneurship, ICSF delivers specialized training in business development. The curriculum covers project identification, market demand assessment, feasibility analysis, and proposal writing. Financial literacy is emphasized through modules on budgeting, pricing, cost-profit analysis, and record keeping. Participants also learn about government support schemes like MSME loans and the Mudra Yojana. The Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) further offers guidance on legal compliance, customer service, and setting up product or service units such as repair centers or workshops. This training empowers SHG members and youth to start and scale small businesses with confidence.
